The impact of university-affiliated research parks is hard to ignore in our increasingly scientific and technological world. According to the Association of University Research Parks, roughly 180 of these facilities exist in North America alone, serving as outlets for university research to develop into commercial prospects. Research parks not only have made significant contributions to science and industry, but to the economic vitality of their host regions, providing jobs and entrepreneurial growth.
In late 2008 the University of Notre Dame broke ground on its own research park adjacent to the campus. President David Brenner gave Thrive Michiana a look at the new facility, which opened in the fall of 2009, and answered our questions about the services it provides, its relationship with clients and what Innovation Park could mean for the future of this region.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (January 26, 2010) – Four companies have committed to growing their businesses in the new Innovation Park at Notre Dame, the Park’s president and CEO, David Brenner, announced today. Representing a cross-section of industries with ties to the University of Notre Dame and Michiana, the companies have chosen the Park as a key partner in the rapid commercialization of their technologies and businesses.
